Is PRP Right for Me?

Is PRP Right for Me?

If you’re looking to restore your skin with one of the safest and easiest methods possible, then platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy might be your answer.

Combining PRP with our beauty treatments is among the many services we offer at Murray’s Health & Wellness in Naples, Florida. Board-certified internal medicine physician Dr. Emilia Murray and our team use this advanced treatment to enhance your results.

PRP explained

Your blood contains the ingredients for PRP: plasma, which is the liquid portion of your blood, along with proteins, growth factors, stem cells, and platelets.

We take a small sample (2-4 tablespoons) of your blood and put it into a special device called a centrifuge, which spins the blood at a high rate of speed.

This process causes your white and red blood cells to separate from your platelets. The platelets are responsible for helping tissues heal and for promoting the growth of new cells.

Once the separation occurs, we remove the tube of blood, which now consists of your plasma with rich platelets. Next, we inject the solution into the deeper layers of your skin, which ultimately produces amazing results.

How it works

PRP stimulates stem cell generation and helps produce collagen, which rejuvenates and restores your skin, giving you a more youthful appearance.

Because PRP comes directly from your very own blood, your body won’t reject it or cause side effects. In other words, your body receives it well.

After your treatment, refrain from wearing makeup for 12-24 hours to promote healing. Depending on your treatment, you might notice some mild bruising and redness, which is normal and should clear up in a day or two.

Seeing results

PRP doesn’t work overnight. No two people have the same skin, so the time it takes to see results can vary. For example, depending on what you’re addressing with PRP, you might notice an improvement within a few weeks. Others might not see results for 3-6 months.

During your consultation, Dr. Murray learns about your aesthetic goals and can determine the best treatment for you. She can also map out a plan for how many treatments you might need to get the results you’re looking for.

The benefits of PRP for your skin

PRP provides numerous benefits for your skin, including:

At Murray’s Health & Wellness, one of our services includes PRP microneedling, which helps eliminate wrinkles, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and surgical scars. Dr. Murray can talk to you about what treatments we can add to PRP for enhanced results.
